Non-Australian citizens need a valid visa or Electronic Authority (ETA) to enter and spend time in Australia. With the exception of New Zealand citizens, all foreign nationals must obtain a visa/ETA before traveling to Australia. Visas are available from Australian visa offices, such as Australian embassies, high commissions and consulates. They are also available, in ETA form, from travel agents and airlines in certain countries.
Visa requirement rules do change from time to time and for this reason we do not keep a list of rules and requirements on this website. Please visit the Australian immigration website at www.immi.gov.au for a list of current regulations and visa fees.
Please note that in some cases it may take up to 6 weeks to obtain an Australian visa. Please allow sufficient time for the visa application process.
Passports
Please check that you are in possession of a current passport, which must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of your intended arrival in Australia. If you do not have a current valid passport, please allow up to 6 weeks for processing. Visas can only be obtained with a valid passport.
Customs & Quarantine
Prior to landing on Australian soil, you will be handed an immigration form to fill out, as well as Customs and Agriculture Declaration forms. Australia has very strict quarantine laws and you must declare ALL goods of animal or plant origin. You are not allowed to bring fresh fruit or vegetables into the country. Therefore we strongly recommend you DO NOT attempt to bring any plant or food items with you.
Please check here for further information on Australian Customs and Quarantine.
